The Nobel Peace Prize-winning International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) is now looking for their next Executive Director to guide and coordinate the global campaign.
Requirements for a new Executive Director
Following the successful leadership of Beatrice Fihn, ICAN is looking for a new Executive Director to lead the coordination of ICAN as a global civil society partnership, act as the visible spokesperson for the campaign, represent ICAN in a variety of fora, liaising with donors, and engage with a range of audiences. The appointee will manage a dynamic and motivated staff team and oversee the development and management of budgets and business plans, overseeing the management of the ICAN staff and the ICAN head office based in Geneva. About the Recruitment process
ICAN is working with the HR consultancy firm called Perrett Laver, which specialises in recruitment for mission-driven organisations and campaigns, to support the recruitment and to ensure that the process conforms to the highest standards of fairness and equity. ICAN’s governance body, the International Steering Group (ISG), is responsible for overseeing the process and will be reviewing and completing this recruitment soon.

ICAN led the ground-breaking efforts to achieve the first-ever multilateral treaty to prohibit nuclear weapons. The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) was adopted at the United Nations in 2017, and entered into force in 2021.
