Submissions Oppose Uranium Sales to Russia

The Australian Federal Parliament's Joint Standing Committee on Treaties is inquiring into a treaty to sell uranium to Russia - a nation whose current nuclear arsenal amounts to the equivalent of 200,000 Hiroshima bombs.

ICAN Board member Dr Sue Wareham, who prepared a submission for MAPW which documents the unacceptable risk of Australian uranium being made into weapons, was invited to make an oral submission in Canberra on 30 July.

ICAN's Associate Professor Tilman Ruff addressed the inquiry on 28 July in Melbourne in conjunction with Friends of the Earth (FoE) and the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF).

The submissions can be viewed here.
